Over £1000 raised at Fashion Fiesta for One In A Million, Bradford

On October 6th, we gathered in the majestic surroundings of The Midland Hotel to host Fashion Fiesta – and it was a huge success!

We at SHOO SOCIAL MEDIA collaborated with ES EDITORIAL to found Fashion Fiesta: a competition for developing fashion designers and makeup artists to showcase their talents whilst raising money for an excellent Bradford based charity, One In A Million.

One In A Million has been helping predominantly young and disadvantaged children in the Bradford area for the past 10 years.

Co-founder and Acting Chief Executive Wayne Jacobs explains that the charity aims to use “formal and informal education to break the cycle of deprivation over their young lives, valuing and celebrating their uniqueness, letting them know they are one in a million”. Children from a local community project, who were supported by the work of One In A Million, had the opportunity to showcase their amazing dancing talent and captivate the audience, helping to warm up the crowd before the competition began.

Fashion Fiesta was hugely successful, and with the help of a raffle and silent auction, over £1000 was raised for the charity.

The entrepreneurial designers and independent fashion houses battled throughout the night for the chance to win three coveted prizes donated by local companies that can help the designers market themselves professionally. The first prize was awarded to the highly talented Darecca Stainforth, who works under Dazarockz. Darecca won three business coaching sessions with Phillip Parramore, who founded GuideDotYou Change Solutions. GuideDotYou is a leadership practice that helps businesses become sustainable, build, grow, and succeed. Simultaneously the work of the makeup artists at the event was judged. The exceptional Kiren Virdi was awarded first prize: Alan Tisch at Sync Media will give Kiren a video marketing consultation as well as a full day of filming either in the Sync Media studio or at a decided location resulting in a fully edited professional product Kiren can use to market herself.

Because of the enormous success of the night, we have decided to make Fashion Fiesta an annual event. If you are a budding independent designer or makeup artist and would like an opportunity to showcase your work and win free marketing advice, or if you are interested in sponsoring the event, don’t hesitate to contact us. Alternatively, if you have a passion for fashion and want to help raise funds for a brilliant local charity, watch this space for updates on next year’s show!
